Carl, Cephas, & Baby Matthew
We met Carl a few years ago while visiting San Francisco on a street corner downtown with his two dogs, Cephas and Baby Matthew, by his side.
Carl told Dr. Kwane and Genesis his personal story and how he manages to get by with just his tent, his dogs, and a few other items. We asked him about his dogs, the older one named Cephas and the newborn named Matthew. Although we offered treatment, Carl mentioned that both dogs were up to date on all their vaccines as well as flea prevention.
Contrary to what some may assume, unsheltered people living with pets are more often than not great pet parents despite their living situation. Carl let us know that his pets are what kept him going everyday. “This is my family, they love me.”
