Lawrence and His Dogs
Lawrence has been caring for his dog’s Bobo & Charlena for over 9 years. Bobo and Charlena have been giving Lawrence company and assistance as he lives on the streets of Burbank, California. Lawrence, a Vietnam veteran, has been dealing with homelessness for over 40 years. He has been across much of the country including Southern California where we met him. Lawrence spoke with Dr. Kwane about the realities of war and lingering it has on people. Lawrence’s dogs helped him get through challenging times and even saved his life after coming close to a physical altercation with another person.
When we met Lawrence, he was with his dogs at a freeway exit. Lawrence was mostly concerned about a mass Charlena had on her leg. Dr. Kwane was able to provide some dog food and take a blood sample from a bump Charlena had on her leg, which Lawrence was afraid was cancer. The results were thankfully negative and we hope Lawrence and his dogs can remain together for years to come.
